1. In any Windows or DOS version try to make a folder named 'con'.
2. You will be presented by an error that it already exists, or other error preventing you creating this directory.
On all versions of Windows and DOS, the name "CON" is reserved for writing to the CONsole (i.e. the screen), and so cannot be used for a user file- or folder-name. Other reserved names are: PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9. Steve.
