Type into the Google search box the following:
"answer to life, the universe, and everything" (use no quotes).
The Google calculator will give you the definite answer to this fundamental question.
The answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything, as given by the supercomputer Deep Thought to a group of mice in Douglas Adams's comic science fiction series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is "42". If you want further information read Adams's books: they are very amusing science fiction books.
The Roge: Unlikely. FIrst of all, THHGTTG is written by an Douglas Adams - Englishman, not an American. To the average European, "420" is an unknown concept, especially the older generation. Secondly, the "420"-culture came up in the '80s. The book was written long before that time. SO no, it's got nothing to do with 420, cannabis or anything like that. -- Sebbo, Jul 4 2008 7:47AM
im pretty sure the creator of hitchiker's guide to the galacy was a stoner, if the answer to the univers is 42... or 42.0... or 420... -- The Roge, May 14 2008 5:22PM
we would know the real question by now, if the vogons hadn't blown of earth -- aurther dent, Apr 15 2008 4:06PM
there is 42 characters in the whole phraze -- billy., Mar 2 2008 3:02PM
you know what I meant. Sorry Doc. -- Ethan Bartolic, Oct 9 2007 1:38AM
can you actually do maths Ethan? Because 6x9 is 54 not 56. Next time check your facts. -- doctor, Jul 4 2007 9:26AM
what is really interesting about this is that the real question is "What do you get when you multiply six by nine?" That shpould be 56, but if you use base 13 the answer is 42. A great insight into how messed up anbd cnfusing our Universe is. -- Ethan Bartolic, May 9 2007 10:34AM
It's trivia from Hitchikers guide to the galexy here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Answer_to_Life, _the_Universe,_and_Everything -- Loo, May 4 2007 10:52AM
no its to the books, i read all of them. -- bob, Apr 25 2007 12:42PM
Actually, it probably has to do with variables or something. If it does, then they could get the same answer the same way... but hey, could be... yeah, I saw the movie... not the books, though.. -- redguardian, Apr 20 2007 7:56AM
It's a reference from the book Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. -- Josh, Apr 12 2007 7:22PM
